PV Sindhu’s quest for the first title of the year continued as she cruised past Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt in straight games 21-14, 21-17 to earn a spot in the semi finals of the Super 300 Madrid Spain Masters 2023. Sindhu who battled injury after winning the historic gold medal at Commonwealth games last year has failed to find her feat after making a comeback.
The Indian shuttler has failed to reach beyond the first or the second round barrier which has ensured she slips out of the top 10 in BWF rankings. The 27-year-old Indian who is seeded second in the women’s single discipline will be up against Yeo Jin Min of Singapore in the semi finals, who defeated 8th seed Beiwen Zhang of USA in the quarter finals. 
Head to head– Sindhu leads the battle 3-0 with their last meeting coming at Commonwealth games where Sindhu prevailed 21-19, 21-17.

Date and match timings- The match will be played on 1 April 2023 from 6:30 PM IST (tentative)
What to expect– Sindhu is ranked 11th in the BWF rankings while Yeo is ranked 33rd in the world. When it comes to world rankings, there is no match for Sindhu in the semi finals and she is expected to sail into the semi finals. However, the current form of Sindhu is questionable and if Yeo can play tight game at the net and defend well against the Indian, then she has a chance to cause an upset and play the finals of Sunday.
The other two semi finals are top seed Carolina Marin and Indonesia’s rising star Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
