World Cup 2019: Big injury scare for India, Virat Kohli hurts his thumb in the nets

World Cup 2019: Big injury scare for India, Virat Kohli hurts his thumb in the nets

India’s biggest worry was the injury of Kedar Jadhav before the start of the world cup after the senior all-rounder hurt his shoulders during Chennai Super Kings last league stage game against Kings XI Punjab in the recently concluded edition of IPL. The team management didn’t risk and gave him rest for the two warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh and as a result the 34-year-old showed signs of recovery after he bowled and batted in the nets under the assistance of team physio Patrick Farhart.

Another injury blow to India

This may be the huge blow to India’s chances as Virat Kohli injured his thumb during the practise session at Ageas Bowl in Southampton according to Sportstar. Team physio was quick to accompany the Indian captain and also applied the pain relief spray on his thumb.

Virat looked in complete discomfort and walked off the field with his thumb immersed in the glass of ice water. The Indian captain is currently number one ranked batsman in ODI rankings and the men in blue are banking on his brilliance to win the world cup. There has been no official confirmation by BCCI on the matter but the worrying pictures suggest that the 30-year-old was in sheer discomfort.

India will play their world cup opener against South Africa on June 5 and the team management will be hoping that the Virat gets fit on time.
