Gautam Gambhir may be the next DDCA President

Former India International Gautam Gambhir might be asked to take over the charge of the controversy hit Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) as the President. Recently, ugly scenes of fight between the officials at DDCA AGM meeting was the talk of the town. Officials were seen punching each other.

The event didn’t went well with Gautam Gambhir and he asked BCCI to step in and punish the officials who were indulged in the act. Meanwhile, a DDCA official has said that Gambhir is the best suited candidate to take over the role as he has a good understanding of Delhi cricket and he has been a International player. The post was left vacant by journalist Rajat Sharma, who resigned as DDCA President in November.

“He (Gambhir) has shown what he brings to the table and was instrumental in changing the fortunes of KKR. Not to forget his contribution to Delhi cricket. With how we have seen the likes of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly impress with their leadership qualities as administrators, Gambhir could be the perfect person to take over the reins of DDCA at this point in time,” the official was quoted in a report, as reported by India.com.

“Some BJP officials have in recent times in fact also gotten in touch with him to understand what all has been happening at the association and after yesterday, it would only be ideal that a strict taskmaster like him takes over and gets the association back on track. Yes, he has shown interest in the talks we have had so far and another meeting is expected to take place with him in the new year,” the official added.

DDCA later named Justice Deepak Verma as Ombudsman and now the President of the association will be chosen by 13th January 2020. Will it be Gambhir or anyone else ? Only time will tell !
