KKR had a habit of producing mystery spinners and it goes back to 2012 when Caribbean spinner Sunil Narine came in the folds of the SRK owned side led by Gautam Gambhir. Narine played an instrumental role for KKR clinching two IPL trophies under the leadership of Gambhir.
KKR didn’t stopped here, they picked mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy after his heroic performance in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and the Bidar born wrecked havoc in the 2020 and 2021 season and was soon drafted into the Indian squad that plied its trade in the 2021 T20 World Cup. The love story between KKR and mystery spinner didn’t stopped here as they picked Suyash Sharma in the 2023 auction for his base price of 20 Lakh Rupees.
Sharma has never played any List A, first class or T20 game for his side except playing in the Delhi U25 setup. He made his debut for KKR against RCB as an impact player in place of Venkatesh Iyer on Thursday and played an instrumental role in winning the game for his side. The 19-year-old returned with a figure of 3-30 in his quota of four over which dismantled the RCB batting line up resulting in a 81 run victory at Eden Gardens.
The fans were amazed with his performance but his looks draw all the eyeballs and fans were quick to notice similarities between him and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra. Twitter went wild as Neeraj Chopra started trending because of Sharma.

“I met Suyash for the first time in the KKR camp. We were sure that we whenever there will be a need for the third spinner we will definitely include Suyash in the Playing XI. In today’s game, the pitch was dry and including him the squad helped,” KKR skipper Nitish Rana said in the post-match presentation.
