Neeraj Chopra, probably India’s most decorated track and field athlete will take the field in the 2023 Diamond League at the Qatar Sports Club in Doha which is the start of a packed season for the 25-year-old. Neeraj who became the first ever Diamond trophy winner last year will start his title defense in a group full of champions.
Chopra will face a stern challenge from reigning world champion and 2022 Doha meet winner Anderson Peters from Grenada (PB: 93.07m), Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic (PB: 90.88m), European champion Julian Weber from Germany (PB: 89.54m), and 2012 Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago (PB: 90.16m).
Japan’s Roderick Genki Dean, Finland’s Oliver Helander, Moldova’s Andrian Maldare, USA’s Curtis Thompson and Kenya’s Julius Yego will be the other athletes in men’s javelin throw event in the Qatari capital.
Commonwealth Games champion in triple jump- Eldhose Paul will also make his Diamond League debut to compete in a field including reigning Olympic champion Pedro Pichardo from Portugal and reigning Diamond League winner Andy Diaz Hernandez from Cuba.

What is Diamond League ?
Diamond League is an annual event which features the top track and field’s athletes competing in most prestigious series sitting in the top tier of World Athletics’ one-day meeting competitions. The 2023 Diamond League comprises 13 meetings, starting with the Doha event leading up to the two-day Diamond League Final in Eugene(USA) on September 16-17th.
